Dr Lorna WingLorna Wing was a member of the scientific staff of the Medical Research Council's Social Psychiatry Unit and an honorary consultant psychiatrist to the Maudsley Hospital, London until retirement in 1990.
Her research work concerned autistic disorders and learning disabilities. Currently she is part-time psychiatric consultant to the National Autistic Society's Centre for Social and Communication Disorders.
Her work now involves diagnostic assessments and training professional workers in diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorders and related conditions.
She is a founder member of the National Autistic Society.
