Yoga, Relaxation and Breathing TechniquesCome and spend time with Nicki Smith, our internationally trained yoga teacher, who will not only teach you yoga but also breathing and relaxation techniques in a relaxed atmosphere. Good for Body and Mind. No experience
required everyone welcome.
Art SculptureWe are lucky to have Fine Art Graduate Erin Veness to lead this course. She is interested in creating large scale monumental sculptures in a team based atmosphere. This is suitable for all and lots of fun. Erin’s first project is
constructing a 12ft fish.
Costume MakingErin will also lead our costume workshop. This involves sewing cutting beading and adding sequins to costumes that will actually be used in dramatic productions. We are working with the Drama Group “The Glass Bubble”. Use your creativity, hunt for materials and new ideas, problem solve and learn new skills that can be used at home.
Social Skills groupsThese groups use a varied approach to gaining social skills and will include role-play, games, quizzes, discussion, social stories and practical application of skills within community activities.
It will address key areas such as making friends, self awareness, values and expectations, interpreting social situations and how to be assertive appropriately. Within the work will be opportunities to work on relevant topics which can range from safe use of the internet, self esteem, anger management, sexuality and accepting and understanding your autism.
The group will also offer a safe practice ground to explore how to work within a group and learn the rewards of teamwork as well as personal development and confidence building.
FrenchWould you like to learn French or maintain and develop your French, come and join the French classes. Yann (Ian Steward) from the Crossborder Language School organises French classes according everyone’s ability. Possibilities to practice your French in France! (These are great trips!)
SpanishIan Steward is also our Spanish Language teacher. Come and learn Spanish with us and learn your Paella from your Tapas.
Tai ChiTai Chi is accessible to all ages and physical abilities and can be practised on many levels, from a simple 'meditative' exercise to a realistic martial art!
Writers groupSue and Ashley from GROW, Grass Roots Open Writers (based in Hastings) welcomes everyone who likes creative writing or people who would like to develop confidence in expressing themselves. In this workshop we will work towards a foundation of literacy, communication and social skills. Members who write for pleasure, healing, personal growth, insight, perspective or to inform are welcome.
Pottery and CeramicsHave you an interest in pottery and ceramics? The Roebuck 3 is the place to be! Richard Larkin will teach you pottery skills and all the techniques needed to make moulds, use the pottery wheel and fire your own creations. We are lucky to have a special 2-seater potters wheel where learning is made easy.
Theatre Group The Glass BubbleLearn Drama and theatre production with The Glass Bubble. There is place for everyone to bring their own gifts and skills to this group. People and ideas are needed for devising, set design, lighting, costume, directing, acting and many other aspects that make up performing arts. We hope to develop this group so that they can take their work into schools/public performance spaces and other youth groups to build awareness of ASD and show the wealth of talent our people have.
Music Rock and Pop WorkshopCalling all wannabe drummers, singers, guitarists, bassists and keyboard players! Come and be part of a live band playing songs from the last 40 years, write your own original material, record and produce your own CD. No experience necessary, all abilities welcome. Come and jam along.
Employment CourseDuring this 10 week course we will visit different concepts around
employment skills. We will do exercises and discuss: how to be a good
colleague, how you ask for help, making mistakes, reflection and self
development, stress management in the workplace, teamwork versus
competition etc. A good step towards employment!
Photography WorkshopCome and join Chris Lower as she works around themes and makes the most out of our beautiful location. Learn to use a camera properly, bring your own or use our digital cameras. Improvement guaranteed.
