Adolescent Relationships and Sexuality

Attendees will gain insight into physical, cognitive and social changes thatnormally occur during puberty and be able to identify how well young peoplewith ASC are making those changes. They will gain  understanding of the needto teach new concepts of privacy and of social touch, and the development ofthe new communication skills required to assist adolescents with ASC tounderstand socio-sexual training. How to give positive experience of using theword ‘No’ will be explained as essential to ensuring that young people can livewith freedom from abuse. The need to proactively develop an adult vocabularythat enables understanding of socio–sexual training will also be established.
