Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults


This training course helps to ensure that vulnerable people are cared for in the best way possible in order to maintain their dignity and quality of life. As well as raising your awareness as a carer, you will learn how to recognise and deal with situations in the correct way should you ever be confronted with them. The course will help you to notice or define abusive or potentially abusive situations and will enhance your professional approach when looking after those who are vulnerable and in your care.

This course is aimed at anyone who comes into contact with a vulnerable adult. We define a vulnerable adult as:

‘Any person aged 18 years or over who is, or may be in need of
Community Care Services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness; and who is or may be unable to take care of him/herself, or
unable to protect him/herself against significant harm or serious
exploitation.

Course Outcomes:

At the end of this training participants will be able to:

  • Will understand their role and responsibility to record and report and how to do so
  • Have a knowledge of legal framework
  • Recognise of adult abuse capacity and consent
  • Know how to respond to disclosures and how not to
