Salary Range: £22,010 - £23,000 per annum FTE (37 hours per week)
Contracted Hours: 37 per week
Location / Base: Hybrid working with an expectation of 1-2 days in the Battle or Pembury office each week and travel to other sites as required

The People Department (formally known as HR) benefits from having specialists in recruitment, advisory and learning & development. We work a hybrid model, attending our sites and services on a regular basis. For this role the expectation is that it will be based from our offices in Pembury or Battle one - two times a week.

Scope:
Responsible for the provision of quality, accurate information, guidance and support through the onboarding process of new starters, including the coordination of volunteers to all parts of the charity. To support the delivery of the People Department’s strategy.

 

 

1.    Recruitment Support:

·         Assisting with the recruitment process for paid staff and volunteers

·         Posting job vacancies on various platforms

·         Screening resumes and applications (for volunteers)

·         Scheduling interviews and assessments

·         Conducting reference checks

2.    Volunteer Management:

·         Developing and implementing volunteer recruitment strategies

·         Posting volunteer opportunities and managing volunteer enquiries

·         Maintaining volunteer records and databases

3.    Event Support:

·         Assisting with recruitment events, job fairs, and volunteer recognition events

·         Coordinating logistics for recruitment and volunteer events

·         Representing the organisation at recruitment and volunteer-related events

4.    Communication:

·         Communicating with candidates, volunteers, and staff members via email, phone, and in-person

5.    Compliance:

·         Ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to recruitment and volunteer management

·         Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information

 

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Awareness of employment legislation, policies, regulations
  • Experience of working in the social care sector is desirable, but not essential
  • Knowledge of how the People Department contributes to the overall organisational goals
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a high performing People / HR Department, including knowledge of recruitment processes (posting advertisements, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks)
  • Previous experience with a whole 360 recruitment cycle
  • Desirable – Previous experience in relation to volunteer recruitment
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Experience of working with colleagues across different departments and locations
  • Strong IT skills, with experience of HR systems and Microsoft office products
  • Excellent problem solver, demonstrating empathy and creativity
  • Ability to work accurately, with attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and multitask in a fast-paced professional environment
  • Strong team player essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • To enjoy working with people
  • Driver’s licence with access to a car
